“The trick is to have such perfect ensemble and dynamic control that the quartet sounds like ‘one’ guitar – exactly what this ensemble does. Everything’s so enjoyably played.”
Fine Music 102.5FM, Sydney on ABC Classics’ Serene Nights

This great Australian quartet has delighted audiences around the world for over 30 years. With an ever-widening range of classical, popular, Spanish, South American and contemporary Australian works, the versatility of the guitar and the group’s unique guitar ‘family’ are showcased to stunning effect in every performance.

Pioneered by Timothy Kain in 1987, Guitar Trek has reinvented the guitar quartet medium through the unique combination of its classically-constructed, different-sized guitars – Treble, Standard, Baritone and Bass. Steel-string Dobro and 12-string guitars are also paired with the classical instruments to magical effect. A compellingly rich repertoire of music from across the globe, many historical periods and popular traditions, and Australia’s own phenomenally inventive contemporary composers has sprung to life through the huge variety of colours, textures and acoustic effects available to the group.

Critics and audiences the world over have warmed to the freshness and energy of Guitar Trek’s live concert appearances. They are proud to have just released their seventh album, Bluetongue on the Naxos label with an eighth on the way. Five of Guitar Trek’s previous albums have been best-sellers on ABC Classics and their 25th anniversary disc “Six Fish” was released on Australia’s renowned Tall Poppies label.

Guitar Trek are Timothy Kain, Minh Le Hoang, Matt Withers and Callum Henshaw.

Recognised globally as one of Australia’s most talented guitarists, having won both of Australia’s major guitar performance competitions (the Adelaide Guitar Festival and Melbourne Guitar Festival), Andrew’s virtuosity has enchanted audiences across the globe with performances in Italy, Spain, France, UK, Croatia, The Netherlands and Brazil.

At just 32, this Australian classical guitar virtuoso stands at the forefront of the nation’s classical scene, captivating listeners with his spellbinding performances. Blanch’s extensive concert schedule regularly features sold-out, critically acclaimed shows at prestigious venues like the Melbourne Recital Centre, Sydney Opera House and South Australia’s Ukaria.

His performances at the iconic Sydney Opera House have repeatedly earned high praise, including a five-star review from Sydney Arts Guide that applauds his choice of broadly appealing music and lauds his style, class, and exceptional delivery.

“Five stars for a unique offering. Five stars for setting aside angular, dissonant music for the sake of being “modern” and instead choosing music with wide appeal. Five stars for outstanding performance. Five stars for style and class.”

Andrew Blanch continues to mesmerize audiences with his extraordinary talent, making his classical guitar concerts an unforgettable experience for all.
